Structural Pest Inspections
For the purchase, sale or refinancing of a home, it is always advisable or, in some cases, required to have it inspected for Wood Destroying Organisms (WDOs). Not all general home inspectors are licensed to conduct inspections for WDOs, and certainly won't have the experience to develop treatment plans. We conduct these inspections with an entomological background, so we know the signs of wood damaging organisms, and can also advise on how to treat for them.
How It Works
During the refinancing or sale of your home, you may want to have it checked for WDOs. It is never a bad idea to have it inspected regularly as part of a routine assurance that the wood in your home is sound. In the Pacific Northwest, there are a number of organisms that are prone to infesting the structural timbers, many silently feeding on the very thing keeping your house together and upright. From fungus to termites and beetles, some are of greater concern than others and will involve special treatments and repair work to ensure that further damage does not occur.
